ISU Dining Announces New Options for Residents of Wallace and Wilson Halls

14 Jul 2011
Ames, IOWA – With approximately 500 freshmen expected to live in Wilson Hall and nearly 800 students in the Wallace-Wilson community, ISU Dining is planning to expand service in the area this fall. The plan includes evening meal service in the Knapp-Storms Dining Complex and changes to the South Side Market (former Wallace-Wilson C-Store).

“Meeting for dinner is one of the effective ways students get to meet and share with one another,” said ISU Dining Director Nancy Levandowski. “We are very excited to offer Wallace and Wilson residents an opportunity to share in their community over a nice meal.”

Evening meals will be offered at Knapp Storms Dining Monday through Thursday nights from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. The buffet-style meals will consist of three hot entrees, sides, desserts and beverages. The meals will be all-you-care-to-eat and students can use meals from their meal plan to eat at Knapp-Storms Dining. If students don’t have a traditional meal plan, they can use Dining Dollar$ or CyCash to purchase meals. Knapp Storms Dining is located across the lawn from Wallace and Wilson Halls.

In addition to the evening meals, the South Side Market will be expanding store hours. Meal bundles will be available Monday through Thursday nights from 7:30 pm to 11 pm and during all hours of operation Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Evening meal bundles will include items from ISU Dining’s commissary kitchen and pizza. Breakfast bundles will be available Monday-Friday from 7:15 until 10 a.m.

A number of vending options in the commons area include snack, sandwich, and ice cream machines as well as four beverage machines.

Students can also take advantage of the ISU Dining To Go program by filling up their containers at any ISU Dining residential dining center. Details of the program are available on the ISU Dining website at

Unlike most of their on campus peers, residents of Wallace and Wilson halls are not required to have a meal plan. Students living on campus are typically signed up for ISU Dining’s Gold meal plan when they obtain their housing assignment. However, since meal plans are optional for Wallace and Wilson residents, students who would like to purchase a meal plan for the upcoming school year must do so by logging on to AccessPlus and signing up for their preferred meal plan option.

For more information about meal plans and options available to Wallace-Wilson residents, students and families can visit the ISU Dining website, email or call 515-294-2900.
